Troubleshooting in case of disturbances

 

Problem  Cause Repair
The control system does not switch on after turning the main switch

-No power supply
-Burnout of the mains fuse
-Burnout of the control system fuse

Check for supply voltage and condition of the fuses
The control system switches on, but the cycle does not start after pressing the button

Mains voltage is too low

Check the mains voltage and compare it with the data on the welder nameplate
The control system switches on but “00” flashes on the SET VALUE display

Thermal protection could have switched on – the programmed interval between welding operations is too short

-Check the cooling system operation and the cooling agent temperature
When the electrodes come into contact with the material, molten metal splashes

-Pressure time is too short
-Electrode pressure force is too weak
-Short-circuit occurred in the thyristor

-Increase the pressure time
-Increase the electrode pressure force
-Replace the thyristor
The transformer makes loud noises during welding and the mains fuse burns out

Thyristor was damaged

-Replace the thyristor
-Replace the control system

Troubleshooting in case of welding defects

    • Defect Cause Countermeasure
      Splashing of molten metal

      -Pressure time is too short
      -Pressure force of the electrodes is too weak
      -Welding current too high
      -Insufficient contact of the electrodes with the welded material

      -Increase the pressure time
      -Increase the force on the electrodes
      -Reduce the welding current
      -Adjust the distance of the electrode to ensure sufficient stroke
      Impression on the welded material is too clear

      -Diameter of the electrodes is too small
      -Pressure force of the electrodes is too strong
      -Welding time is too long
      -Welding current is too high

      -Replace the electrodes and provide the right diameter of the electrodes
      -Reduce the pressure
      -Reduce the welding power (time and current)
      Insufficient strength of the weld

      -Welding time is too short
      -Current is too low
      -Diameter of the electrodes is too large
      -Excessive force exerted on the electrodes
      -Contaminated contacts of the secondary circuit

      -Increase the welding time
      -Increase the welding current
      -Reduce the diameter of the electrodes
      -Reduce the pressure force of the electrodes
      -Clean the secondary circuit
      Deformed electrodes

      -Heating time is too long
      -Excessive pressure on the electrodes
      -Current is too high
      -Insufficient cooling
      -Insufficient contact surface of the electrodes
      -Copper alloy of the electrodes is “too poor”

      -Reduce the welding time
      -Reduce the current
      -Check the cooling
      Crater in the weld core

      -Hold time is too short
      -Insufficient pressure force of the electrodes
      -The material to be welded is dirty

      -Increase the hold time
      -Increase the pressure force
      -Clean the material to be welded
